Casablanca Airport to City Centre: Train, Taxi or Private Transfer?

There are exactly three practical ways from Casablanca Mohammed V Airport (CMN) to the city centre: the ONCF train (~42 MAD, station-to-station), an airport taxi (~250–350 MAD by day, negotiated on the spot), or a pre-booked private transfer (400 MAD fixed, door-to-door). The airport sits about 30 km south-east of the city, a 30 to 40 minute drive. Here is how each option really works in 2026.

Option 1: The ONCF train

The train station sits beneath Terminal 1, reachable by escalator from arrivals. Trains run to Casa Voyageurs, Casablanca’s main railway station, roughly every hour between about 06:00 and 22:00. A second-class ticket costs around 42 MAD and the ride takes 35 to 45 minutes.

At that price, nothing else comes close. But be honest with yourself about the full journey. Casa Voyageurs is not your hotel: from the station you still need a petit taxi across town, which adds cost, time and one more negotiation. You will also be handling your own bags on escalators, stairs and platforms — fine with a backpack, tedious with two large suitcases and a pushchair.

And the timetable cuts both ways. Land at 23:30 and the last train has gone. Land at 14:00 with a 50-minute wait for the next departure, and the train’s time advantage evaporates.

Best for: solo travellers and backpackers on a budget, arriving in daytime, travelling light.

Option 2: Airport taxi

White grand taxis queue at a rank directly outside arrivals. The going rate to central Casablanca is roughly 250 to 350 MAD during the day, rising by about 50% after 20:00. Airport runs are not metered, so the fare is whatever you agree before setting off — and the first number you hear will usually leave room for discussion.

The upside is genuine flexibility: no timetable, door-to-door, cars always present in daytime. The downside is the process. After a long flight you join the queue, negotiate in French or Arabic (or gestures), and hope the agreed price stays agreed. Most rides go smoothly; a minority end with a dispute at the destination. If you take a taxi, confirm the total fare — not per person, not per bag — before your luggage goes in.

Best for: confident travellers arriving by day who want flexibility without booking ahead.

Option 3: Pre-booked private transfer
